J.R.R. Tolkien has a great online fan community. Some of the best fan sites have been around for years. Here are a few sites you'll want to visit to learn more about Middle-earth!
- MERP
MERP stands for "Middle-earth Role-playing" but the MERP community has some great resources on Tolkien and Middle-earth. They have published essays by Chris Seeman and Michael Martinez. Martinez is one of the most well-known and thorough Tolkien researchers in the world.
- Tolkien Studies
The Tolkien Studies on the Web site documents a lot of university and college courses that teach the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and offer online resources for their students. Tolkien Studies also helps you find reliable Tolkien research information online.
- Hobbite Movie news
The Xenite.Org Hobbit Movie news site is the Web's oldest and longest continually updated source of information on Tolkien-related movies, plays, and productions. Owned by respected Tolkien expert Michael Martinez, the Xenite site was the first to break the news in 1998 that New Line Cinema had picked up Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" production.
- L.O.T.R.
Jeff Cable's Tolkien site may not be pretty but it is jam-packed with information about Middle-earth.
- Lord of the Rings movies
This old LoTR movie fan site is filled with links and interesting tidbits about Tolkien movies and Web sites.
