There are a lot of Tolkien discussion forums on the Web. Here are a few of the best places to find other Tolkien fans when you're looking for online Tolkien discussions!
- The Tolkien Forum
Xenite.Org hosts the oldest Tolkien discussion community on the Web. Launched in 1997 as the White Council, the Tolkien Forum at Xenite.Org has been home to many in-depth discussions by noted Tolkien scholars from around the world.
- The Tolkien Forum
The Tolkien Forum at SF-Fandom grew out of the Xenite.Org forum (okay, they are the same forum with different interfaces). You'll find some of the best discussions of Balrogs and other Middle-earth topics here. No flaming is allowed.
- The Tolkien Forum at Endor
The Endor mailing list used to be the Middle-earth mailing list. It is one of the largest and longest-running private Google Groups devoted to the discussion of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and Middle-earth. The list is moderated and does not allow flame wars.
- The Tolkien Forum at MERP
The MERP community is large and filled with active Tolkien fans. Their forums are moderated.
- Minas Tirith
Minas Tirith has been around for several years. It's a very popular Tolkien community that does not permit flame wars. It's biggest claim to fame is the whimsical "I found the Ent-wives!" discussion.
